History of an Electric Treadmill

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Electric TreadmillMany people are not aware that there are actually treadmills that are manual. For them the only running machine that they ever saw was an electric treadmill, where the treadmill belt is moved by a motor. These are actually quite a new invention, and before that the manual machines were first invented to be used inside prisons – it made prison exercising quite easy, since they could be used indoors in a well secured area. Needless to say that there was no way someone could escape while jogging, since they could be strapped to the treadmill while running.

The manual models were powered by the runner themselves. This means that you would have to push back the belt with your feet to make it move, and once it was moving it would take quite a lot of strength to keep it running. The running motion in these machines is quite natural since you are pushing with your feet most of the time, as opposite to electric treadmill which has a motorised belt, so that you will only have to move your feet forward, and let the belt do the other work. It targets completely different muscles and that is why most of the experienced runners prefer running in the nature, compared to running indoors.

When you are running, you are targeting the most important muscle in your body, no matter where you are doing the workout. Your heart is the most important muscle, and for people who are looking to gain some health and fitness from running, using a treadmill is quite a fine choice, no matter if it is manual or electric treadmill. You are going to improve your cardiovascular health and your respiratory system  no matter where you are doing the exercise.

National Grouch Day

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

It is here this year once again as it is going to be time for the National Grouch Day once again. What is it? Well basically it is the day of the year when you are allowed to whine about every single thing you can think about. It does not matter if you are happy, today you must look like you are not! If you think that something is funny, you must not admit that it is. You are allowed though to laugh at someone elses misery but when someone asks you about it, you have to deny it!

H1N1 Vaccine Risks

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

The widely spread epidemic of the swine flu (H1N1) has created a whole new need for some serious vaccination. Currently the influenza virus is not going to be deadly in healthy men and women, but with people who belong to the risk groups it is important to do everything you can to avoid the condition. This includes vaccination, but before you start looking for a way to get the flu shot, you should be aware of the H1N1 vaccine risks to know what you are risking.

The problem with the vaccionation is that it is so new that there are no decent scientific studies which have reported any side-effects, and this is why the US government has made it their business to start examinating the possible risks of the H1N1 vaccine mass-distribution. There are plans to vaccinate the majority of US citizens and that is why it is important to make charts of the possible side-effects. Once the mass vaccination starts there are going to be scientists analyzing the amounts of diseases and medical conditions that turn up. The problem is that there is already a large amount of heart attacks, miscarriage and allergic reactions happening on a daily basis, and if the H1N1 vaccine risks involve any of these, it is going to be hard to analyze wether it is normal or caused by it.

It has not been a day since Finnish peacekeepers were attacked in Afghanistan with a roadside bomb. Two of them were seriously injured and one of them suffered a spinal fracture. Now eight troops of the U.S. Military are dead after being attacked in two different outposts.

On Saturday night in Nuristan which is close to the Pakistan border some fighters attacked the American soldiers from a village near the outposts. There is no certain information about the outposts still being intact and there is doubt about them being taken over by the attackers. The military remains silent about the state of the outposts.

There has been insecuritites like this before in Afghanistan back in 2008 when nine soldiers died in a similar attack.

Nurses Are Refusing From Mandatory Flu Shots

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

VaccinationIt is normal for the parents to be used to the flu shots for their children before they go to school. This has been around for a long time already and obligatory vaccinations have saved a lot of lives. But when you have to have flu shots when you are an adult, things seem to go a bit over the top.

It is the first time in history as the hospitals and the university health symstems are assigning compulsory vaccinations to their staff. This is to prevent the flu from spreading, but as to their surprise some members of the staff are not as happy about it as it was expected.

You would consider getting a free ticket to not get ill of the flu would be tempting to people who are working in the health care industry, but there is a great number of nurses who are not willing to take that vaccination. They made it mandatory for the staff to have both a yearly influenza vaccination and also a H1N1 vaccination for health care employees.

The official position of the nurses seems to be that they feel like the vaccines are used for testing purposes on them and that is why they are not happy with it.

No Olympics In Chicago Or Tokyo

London Olympic Stadium 2012

London Olympic Stadium 2012

The International Olympic Commitee made two eliminations in the run for 2016 Olympic Games. Chicago and Tokyo are no longer contenders for the games and there are a still only Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Spain left as contenders.

It seems that even if President Obama took time to go visit the Olympic Commitee, it did not help the chances of Chicago of having the honor of organizing the games.

All the cities gave the proposals on Friday and after that the members of the IOC decided on which countries should be still included in the game, and which should not.

As for other countries, Spain’s King Juan Carlos and the Queen Sofia accompanied with President Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero are going to work on promoting the possible 2016 Madrid Olympics.

For Brazil, the President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is going to take Pele – a soccer hero – to present their plans for the games in Rio.

Hundreds Of Dinosaur Eggs Found In India

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

DinosaurIn the state of Tamil Nadu there is a group of scientists who have made an exciting discovery. Their primary goal was to find an old path where a river had gone, but instead they found a huddle of weird football sized objects. Later it turned out that these might be the eggs of dinosaur.

There have been claims made about the way that all these eggs are brought together, but it appears that all the eggs are infertile, and for that reason they still are there.  It obviously shows that dinosaur have continuously returned to one place to lay eggs – they were not all layed at the same time since they were found in different layers.

The first time eggs were found in the same area was in the late 1860′s, and just like these they were claimed to be laid by a Sauropod, which has been found to have inhabit every part of the world.
